How are local moves priced?
Most local moves are time-based and billed in half-hour increments. Before moving day we check access, stairs, fragile and heavy items, packing needs, truck size and crew requirements, then confirm the rate and what it covers. That planning also gives you a realistic time estimate. If you would prefer a firm total, ask whether a fixed-price quote is suitable for your move.
What if I have same-day settlement?
Same-day settlement is common; it just needs choreography. Our moving specialist will come to your home to assess, itemise and plan the move precisely, so we can build a tight timeline around your vacate time and settlement window. That way you’re not stressing about whether we started early enough, and our crew isn’t forced into a rushed, high-pressure move.
By sighting the move, we can also set up a Plan B if settlement runs late (or anything changes). Often, the calmest approach is to load on settlement day and deliver the next day, though it’s not always required. This keeps everything controlled and protects the experience for everyone.
Should I empty drawers and the fridge before moving?
Drawers: We recommend emptying them. Leaving clothes in drawers puts extra stress on the runners and the cabinet, can affect the furniture’s integrity, and makes the piece heavier and more awkward to handle. This increases the chance of a tip or a knock.
Fridge / freezer: Yes, it needs to be empty. Fridges are usually tipped slightly to move, and anything inside can slide around or spill. The easy way is to pack your cold items into an esky right before we load the fridge. We can then make the fridge one of the first items off, so your cold goods go straight back in.
What happens if it rains on moving day?
We’ve been working in all kinds of weather since 2015. Rain won’t stop the move. Our team is equipped to keep things moving efficiently and carefully, using protective equipment and solid technique to minimise downtime and keep your items dry.
If you’d like extra protection for soft furnishings (mattresses, couches and the like), we can supply plastic covers at cost. We can also lay protective pads at entryways when needed to help keep floors and carpets clean.
How big are your boxes?
The two main boxes we use for most homes (around 95–98% of what you’ll need) are Tea Chests and Crystal Packs.
Tea Chest (general household box)
- Size: 431mm (L) × 406mm (W) × 596mm (H)
- Capacity: ~104 litres
- Build: Double-walled (twin cushion) for extra strength
Crystal Pack (our go-to “book box”)
We use crystal packs for books because they’re a stronger, more versatile box in a professional packing scenario.
- Size: 403mm (L) × 301mm (W) × 330mm (H)
- Build: Well-cushioned, double-layer design to protect delicate and fragile items

- Picture packs: built to protect pictures, large photos and artwork
- Port-a-robes: designed for transporting clothes on their coat hangers. They’re also brilliant for sheds
